Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can look forward to finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
